    What's the story

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has launched the BS6-compliant version of its popular scooter, the Dio, in the country.

The updated model, which is offered in two variants: Standard and the Deluxe, comes at a starting price of Rs. 59,990.

Apart from the engine upgrade, it has also received minor cosmetic updates and a new instrument console.

    Here are the finer details.

    Design

BS6 Honda Dio: At a glance

The new Honda Dio scooter sits on the same underbone chassis as the outgoing model but comes with several cosmetic tweaks such as a new LED headlamp design, updated graphics work, and restyled LED taillights.

The scooter runs on 12-inch wheels and features split grab rail, external fuel-filler cap, and a fully-digital instrument console.

    Engine

    Power and performance

The updated Honda Dio shares its mechanical specifications with its sibling, the Activa 6G. The scooter is fueled by a 110cc air-cooled engine which is capable of producing 7.79hp of maximum power and 8.79Nm of peak torque.

Quite like the Activa 6G, the new Dio also gets silent start system for improved fuel efficiency.

    Safety

What about safety and suspension setup?

On the safety front, the new Honda Dio comes equipped with 130mm drum brakes on both the front and rear ends, along with combined braking system (CBS) for improved braking efficiency.

To handle suspension duties, the scooter houses improved telescopic forks on the front and a mono-shock unit on the rear.

    Information

    Finally, what is the pricing?

The new Honda Dio carries a premium of Rs. 7,000 over its BS4 counterpart. As for the pocket-pinch, it starts at Rs. 59,990 for the Standard model and goes up to Rs. 63,340 for the Deluxe variant.
