    What's the story

Bajaj Auto is working to launch the BS6-compliant version of its sports tourer, the Pulsar NS160, in the coming weeks.

In the latest update, an Autocar report, citing a leaked government document, has revealed that the updated model will be more powerful than its BS4 counterpart.

Apart from the engine upgrade, the new model will retain the design and underpinnings of the outgoing variant.

    Design

The updated Pulsar NS160 will borrow its styling cues from the outgoing model. It will reportedly sit on the same perimeter frame and feature a naked-sport design with a muscular fuel tank, a dual-tone paint scheme, and blacked-out alloy wheels.

Apart from that, the motorcycle will come with split-type seats as well as grab rail and a digital-analog instrument console.

    Internals

    Power and performance

According to Autocar, the new Pulsar NS160 packs a BS6-compliant 160.3cc single-cylinder engine that produces 17hp of maximum power at 9,000rpm as against the BS4 model that churns out 15.5hp at 8,500rpm.

The details about the peak-torque are yet to be revealed, but the report suggests that the updated motor will generate more torque as compared to the BS4 model that puts out 14.6Nm.

    Safety

Bajaj Pulsar NS160: On the road

The BS6-compliant Bajaj Pulsar NS160 will retain the braking elements of the outgoing model. It will come equipped with disc brakes on both the ends, along with single-channel ABS as standard.

The suspension duties on the sports tourer will be taken care of by conventional telescopic forks up front and a mono-shock unit on the rear.

    Information

And, how much will it cost?

There is no official word on the pricing of the BS6-compliant Bajaj Pulsar NS160 as of now. However, considering the updates, it is likely to carry a premium of around Rs. 10,000 over the outgoing model that starts at Rs. 94,195 (ex-showroom).
